New York - day 1

175560's apartment in Manhattan. Today I went into midtown Manhattan and went to Rockefeller Center where I looked at the big tree and watched people skating. That ceased to be interesting after about 30 seconds though, and then I noticed a big Japanese bookstore directly across from Rockefeller plaza. I poked around the bookstore for a while and then met up with my friend Rivka. We had talked about going to the Met or the MoMA, but Rivka suggested going to the Museum of Sex instead. The museum is two floors - the lower level is essentially a historical look at pornography. It had a lot of circa 1800's and early 1900's smut, which was interesting to see. It was like looking at the old style pictures of someone's long dead relatives - but they were having sex! It also kind of made me think of the state fair booths where you can dress up in Victorian clothes and get your picture taken. But with sex! Anyhow, you get the idea..
The second floor is a temporary exhibit about sexuality in China. There was a lot about foot binding, and about the significance of having sex outdoors in traditional Chinese culture.
Now I think I'm heading out to dinner with175560, patrissimo, and smileycynic.
