My latkes bring all the boys to the yard
Jan. 3rd, 2006 08:43 pmMy party went well! My latkes turned out really well - several people asked what I do different from them. (Matzo meal, evidently - though I think it has more to do with the fact that I use Yukon Gold potatoes instead of russets). I made about 45 latkes, and they all got eaten. And not even all by me (though I think I did end up right on the borderline of my tolerance for fried potatoes).
Whenever I throw a party, I'm always really worried that no one will show up. Or that only the person I know least well will show up and I'll have to make small talk with them while trying to come up with reasons that no one else is there that won't make me look like a total loser. The person I knew least well did show up first, but we hung out and talked about dancing for about half an hour and then a few more people showed up. I think I had about 15-20 people come and go across the course of the afternoon and evening. Thank you for all those who came. You kept me from having to eat 45 latkes all by myself. :D
Unfortunately, I seem to have caught a cold. :( I started getting sinus pressure this morning and then a sore throat this afternoon. I'm going to try to stave it off with Vitamin C, fresh fruit, tea, and lots of sleep.
