Because so many trees came down during the tornado, the city is targetting a tree planting project at my neighborhood. As part of the Tornado re-leaf project, if I'm one of the first 200 people to order one I can buy a tree for $25. After September 12th, if they haven't sold all 200 trees, anyone who is a resident of Minneapolis can get one of the remaining trees for $25. There are five types of trees available, and the one I'm considering getting is a Blue Beech tree (also sometimes referred to as American hornbeam or musclewood trees). If any of you locals have a mature blue beech tree, can you let me know so as I can come by and take a look at it? There's only so much I can tell about what they look like from the little pictures online.
I have been doing a lot of gardening this week. ( I'll cut this for those of you who aren't interested. )
