Kitty Cat

I will post an election post-mortem sometime in the next couple of days. But for now, a completely politics free post.

Last week, a stray cat showed up at my sister's door. It trotted past my nieces and brother-in-law, who were in the yard, and seemed quite convinced that it lived there. Since it wouldn't be deterred from this belief, they let it into the garage and began looking for it's real owner. (It's front declawed, so it was someone's pet at some point.) They haven't found it's home yet, and it has since moved from the garage to my sister's study. My sister really likes the cat, but she already has three cats. If no owner steps forward (either original or adoptive), my sister will keep the cat. But she wanted to see if the cat would be a good match for someone else before she completely commits to keeping it.

My sister has taken the cat to the vet - she's a healthy female, is not microchipped, and is probably about a year old. She's also beautiful and affectionate. She has liked to sit on my sister's lap, and particularly likes being scratched under and around her chin. My sister thinks she would make a good apartment cat, because she has not been at all stressed about being shut up in a single room in their house. She was also really calm about riding in the car, way moreso than any of my sister's cats. She's also playful. When I took my camera out to take a picture of her, she started batting at the cord.

The slightly blurry ones were taken without flash, and are a better representation of her colors. The crisper pictures were taken with flash, but wash out her colors slightly.

So if you have been thinking about adopting a cat, and are interested in this one, please contact me and I'll put you in touch with my sister. I want to reiterate again that my sister is not planning to drop the cat off at the humane society if it doesn't find a home. She has been kind of conflicted about whether to try to rehome it at all. She really does like it, she just feels like 4 cats is really more cats than she has ever intended to have.

It is either a very good or a very bad thing that we don't live anywhere near enough to meet this kitty and fall in love with her. I swear my IQ drops like 50 points when I'm faced with that much cuteness.

CuteOverload is dangerous stuff. Also, Rate My Kitten is like pure crack. The only thing that stops it from breaking my brain entirely is the fact that not all the pictures are kittens, and not all of them are cute, and the fact that I'm supposed to be rating them makes me just critical enough to avoid melting down entirely.

She is adorable. If I didn't a) have birds and b) have cat allergies, I would have taken her. Of course, if I didn't have allergies I'd probably already have three cats too. :D

a year old? that means she's gonna live for at least another 14... that's a long time...

Considering that I volunteer with birds that can live to be 80, that doesn't really seem like that long a time. :) Also, most people I know with pet cats would like their cats to live much longer than they do.

It is also possible that she's older. But she's a little small, so she's probably not quite full grown.

I'm not entirely convinced that Emily the cat's still available.
