Friday night I went to Shabbat dinner at a friends house. I brought sorbet. I highly recommend Sharon's sorbet, especially the coconut. And it's dairy free for those who are concerned about such things.

Saturday I was going to take Molly shopping to get a birthday present for Kiera. However, she was sick. I ended up going over to hang out with both girls while Naomi went grocery shopping. I was there for probably about 1 1/2 hours. Molly stayed on the same spot on the couch the entire time. Usually she has so much energy that you're lucky if she stays in one spot for two minutes. She had a fever and was clearly pretty miserable. I was really worried about her, but Naomi assured me that she'd talked to a doctor and this was characteristic of a virus that was going around among the preschool set.

After hanging out at my sister's, I went over to [livejournal.com profile] melange's house to watch Firefly. Having seen the whole series now, I'm really looking forward to seeing Serenity again. After the Firefly marathon, I went to [livejournal.com profile] 433's backyard movie of the week, Real Genius. This is something like the fifteenth time I've seen the movie. But, I'm not sure I'd seen it since I graduated from college. In any case, it made me very nostalgic for my alma mater. I'd forgotten about the little details that make Pacific U feel like Mudd, like the dorm lounge full of people playing video games and chess, and wandering through in nothing but a towel.

Today I volunteered at The Landing, and afterwards went over to my sister's house again. Molly was doing much better today. We were able to complete our shopping trip to find a birthday present for Kiera. Molly ended up getting her a toy scooter for her Groovy Girls dolls. My mother, who has an aversion to all things two wheeled and motorized, will undoubtedly be just thrilled that Molly went straight for the toy version. I did ask Molly if she was sure she didn't want to get the Groovy Girls pony instead, but Molly wouldn't be moved from the little scooter.

On the recommendation of a number of friends, I'm reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay. So I'm off to read another chapter before bed.
